Postcards from San Antone
The “Postcard” show is a musical comedy review reminiscent of the vaudevilles and variety shows of the previous century of all things San Antonian and Texan. Postcards with a subject relevant to the each segment will appear to introduce parts of the program, vaudeville style. This is particularly appropriate for the Cameo stage, since it was built for vaudeville back in 1940 and most of the acts arrived by train at the nearby Sunset Station. Unlike other local shows, Postcards” is not afraid to make fun of the very things other shows take so seriously. Acts include precision cow bell ringers, audience participation, ventriloquism, magic, comedy and musical numbers including a Jalisco dance troupe. Veteran performers Twyla LaMont and Roy Thomas headline the cast of 20. The show is meant to grow and evolve over time, with acts seasonally changing and responding to patron tastes and desires. |
